Benevolence

Benevolence
The Benevolence Ministry tries to be faithful in doing "good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers" (Galatians 6:10). In addition to attending to needs that arise in our congregation, there are other specialized ministries that offer physical assistance: Ministry to the Homeless, Priority One, and the Food Pantry.

Food Pantry
This ministry collects food and other household items and stores them at our facility to be given to anyone who has need. Also, product expirations are checked periodically, and the storeroom is kept orderly and well-stocked. Members can bring non-perishable food and household items and place them in the shopping cart in the children’s classroom wing. Needed items are listed in the bulletin.
Ministry Leader: Halcyon Rigdon

Homeless Ministry
Each year a Christmas party is given for residents of the Community Shelter for HOPE in Durham. During the year, donated items are collected on set Sunday evenings to be given at the Christmas party.
Ministry Leader: Chris & Brenda Felder

Hospital Ministry
Hospital ministry takes place as our members make personal visits, write cards, or call our members – and others – who have been hospitalized. Another ministry opportunity is to provide housing for out-of-town family members of those who are hospitalized.
Ministry Leader: Heather Jared

Priority One
This ministry group sends notes of encouragement, visits those who are unable to leave home, and helps in other ministries as well. A special emphasis is placed on helping with the Honduras Mission. The group meets one day a week in the Fellowship Hall.
Ministry Leader: Pauline Main

Transportation
The primary function of this ministry is to ensure that transportation to church on Sunday morning is provided for those who need it. Members who can provide transportation can see Chris, who coordinates the driving schedules.
